A lighter week than March’s peak—but March 31 in particular is stacked with major releases.

Hey there, everyone! We’re closing in on a new week, and it’s time to see which game releases are ahead for the Nintendo Switch 2.

While next week is a bit slow, there are still a few notable titles to watch out for. From a new stealth game from Konami, a new entry in a beloved franchise, a visually impressive title, and even goats.

Let’s get to it:

Highlight of the Week

South of Midnight: Weaver’s Edition

“When a hurricane rips through Prospero, Hazel is pulled into a Southern Gothic world of memory made real and must embark on a journey to rescue her mother and safeguard her hometown. In this folktale for modern times, Hazel will need to reconcile the weight of family, history, and legacy against her own identity.”

South of Midnight has got to be the highlight of the week.

Developed by Compulsion, who are best known for a title called “We Happy Few.” I remember getting mixed reviews back in the day, which sparked some worry when this title was announced.

Luckily for Nintendo Switch 2 owners, the game was released last year already on PC and Xbox, and reviews were great! So, you can expect a polished experience with this one while you explore this action-adventure game set in the American Deep South.

Legacy of Kain: Ascendance

Action-RPG | March 31 |

“Nosgoth’s dark fantasy world is brought to life through animated cutscenes and beautifully crafted pixel art gameplay. Each level is filled with environmental challenges and puzzles that flow seamlessly into combat. Fly, fight, and unravel the past in a world of collapsing kingdoms, haunted ruins, and shattered timelines.”

Legacy of Kain: Ascendance marks the return of the franchise, which hasn’t seen a new title (not counting remasters) since Nosgoth in 2014.

While it’s something that fans wanted for years, it returned in 2D, which might not be to everyone’s liking, seeing how every single Legacy of Kain game is a 3D title.

But don’t let this discourage you! This is a fast-paced 2D action platformer that will test your skills.

Super Meat Boy 3D

“Super Meat Boy 3D is a tough-as-nails platformer where you play as an animated cube of meat who’s trying to save his girlfriend (who happens to be made of bandages) from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a tux — IN 3D! Our meaty hero will leap from walls, over seas of buzz saws, through crumbling caves and pools of old trash, sacrificing his own well-being to save his damsel in distress—IN 3D.”

Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog both went 3D after years of success as 2D titles. So, it’s not surprising that Super Meat Boy would follow the steps of these icons.

On March 31st you can suffer through its brutal levels and understand why Super Meat Boy is an icon in itself for indie platformers.

Beating a single level can take some time, but when I do, I get a rush similar to beating a difficult boss in a Dark Souls game. If you enjoy games that reward skill and replayability, then this might be the one for you this week.

Goat Simulator 3

Sandbox / Comedy | April 1 |

“Begin your whirlwind adventure on the sandbox island of San Angora. Lick, headbutt, and crash your way through an open world full of quests to solve, secrets to uncover, and NPCs to terrorize. We won’t tell you how to play (except in the tutorial) but provide the means to be the goat of your dreams.”

Let me just say the name for this game is incredibly misleading. You might think you’ll just be living your best goat life on a farm somewhere eating good pastures, but this is further from reality.

In this sandbox game, you’re free to roam around, and your objective is to cause as much chaos as possible, as a goat, of course. At first you might just try and annoy people with some headbutts, but soon you’ll realize how many different options you have.

Goat Simulator is a super fun experience that keeps surprising you, and I find it fitting that it will be released on April 1st.

Darwin’s Paradox

Platformer | April 2 | TBC

“Embark on a grand adventure worthy of a true animated movie with Darwin, an octopus as charming as he is clever, ripped from the ocean and trapped in a massive and mysterious industrial complex. With his extraordinary intelligence and incredible abilities — swimming, camouflage, and many other fascinating skills — help him overcome the most formidable traps and dangers in this captivating platformer, adventure, and puzzle game.”

It’s funny how just yesterday I made a post about how important it is to have a demo for consumers to try, and after playing Darwin’s Paradox for myself, I got some mixed feelings.

I love the game’s silliness of having you play as an octopus, stealthing and platforming its way to freedom while also engaging with some good old puzzle solving.

What I didn’t like is the visuals in docked mode. The game itself already has some graphical compromises from its PS5 version, and it’s even clearer when playing docked, where resolution takes a hit and everything looks as blurry as a Switch 1 title.

I’m still adding it to the list because there’s actual creativity here, and for the price, I think it’s a good pick.
