My Top 5 Most Anticipated Games of 2017

So far 2017 has been a good year for gaming, we’ve had the pleasure of playing games like The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Horizon Dawn, Injustice 2, Resident Evil 7, Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment and many more. But the year isn’t over and there are many more games yet to be released that I’m dying to get my hands on. So, with this said, here is a list of my Top 5 up-coming games of 2017.

To start off we will talk about a game that will only be released in early 2018! While making this list I was struggling to find a fifth game that I really wanted to play and this one kept popping into my head. Despite not being released in 2017 it’s easily one of the games I am most hyped about. When I look at it my hands start itching, I need it! It looks so beautiful! I believe that this is the reason cel-shading graphics exist! No doubt that Arc Systems have outdone themselves in this regard. However, looks are not everything. A while ago I wrote a review of Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden and despite the looks of the game, it had lots of flaws like the lack of playable characters, a lackluster story mode, a bad online mode and no alternate color for characters. No matter how good the game looks it needs to succeed where Butoden has failed. I do think they’re on the right track since they’ve already added alternate colors to the characters! Let’s hope they fix the rest too and make it live up to my expectations!

It seems that the hardcore Metroid fans can finally shut up! Here you go, here’s your Metroid game for the Nintendo 3DS! Now you can all get less upset about AM2R getting killed. And on top of that, you’ll also get Metroid Prime 4 probably around next year. But that is not what I want to talk about, I want to talk about Metroid: Samus Returns. I’m not Metroid’s biggest fan since I’ve only played a couple games but I still want this! I was planning on buying only one more game for the 3DS this year and now this appears? How can I not buy it? The graphics look very good for the system and the gameplay/combat system is so fluid! With this game, I’ll finally be able to play with Samus in a game other than Super Smash Bros. 4 3DS. Don’t forget to mark September 2017 on your calendars!

3. Mario Odyssey

As a kid, I always preferred Sonic to Mario, only because I played more Sonic games. However in the recent years, Sonic hasn’t been at its best so I shifted my interest into Mario. I’ve recently played games like Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Kart 7 and even Puzzle and Dragons: Super Mario Edition. All these games were so much fun to play! And I’m sure that Mario Odyssey will be as well. Just looking at the trailer it’s impossible not to love this game immediately. Great graphics, cool music and very fun and new gameplay mechanics. I don’t have a Nintendo Switch just yet but when I get one I’ll be sure to pick up this game up. It would be blasphemous to get a Switch and not buy this game!

2. Sonic Forces

Sonic Forces or Sonic Generations 2 is my second most anticipated game of 2017. As I said before when I was a kid I adored Sonic games and I still do. Ever since Sonic Generations, I’ve been craving for a similar game and they deliver us something even better! They give us a game where we can play as an original character created by us! How cool is that? My inner child was screaming when I saw that. I used to go to Sonic Fan Forums where everyone had their own fan character and I’m sure that every single one of them had the same reaction as me. It is indeed a Sonic fan dream come true. Also, the gameplay looks solid and the graphics are clean, all there is left is a great story.

1. Pokemon UltraSun/UltraMoon

And surprise, the game I want to play more than anything this year is Pokemon UltraSun/UltraMoon. A lot of people were disappointed with the announcement of these games since they were hoping for a Nintendo Switch title. We’re going to get one people! In the meantime let’s enjoy our time in Alola one more time. I had a blast going through Pokemon Sun, it was without a doubt the best Pokémon game I’ve ever played. I’m not saying that it was my favorite generation or my favorite Pokémon game of all time, I am just saying that it was the best Pokémon game that I’ve ever played, period. This game pushed the Nintendo 3DS to its limits! And now they’re making a new game in Alola but with a different story? I’m all in for that since I know that it will be as good or better than the previous one. Bring it on Nintendo I am waiting!
