Welcome to another week of Gamer By Mistake eShop Selects!
This week I finally got my driver’s license, so I decided to dive on the eShop and swim through all the shovelware to find at least one game worthy of celebrating this life achievement.
It wasn’t easy; I managed to find not one, but five I’d be happy to purchase if given the chance.
With this said, here are my picks for the week of 11/08-17/08.
Faye Falling
“FAYE FALLING is a turn-based RPG. You play as a recently passed lost spirit, unable to recall who they are, or how they died. After a chance encounter with a powerful entity, you begin an epic journey to defeat a growing darkness, and recover your memories along the way.”
Radiant: Guardians of Light
“Grab some of your favorite Beat ‘Em Up games, let’s now add some RPG Elements, a crafting system, super cool magical powers, tons of enemies, bosses, amazing art, a completely personalized and curated soundtrack, and of course, a great story with deep Lore to fully connect with the world of Helia.
Once everything is blended with 4 years of work and a lot of passion, we end up with “Radiant”, a love letter to 80s Beat ‘Em Up games with several features that were simply impossible back in the day.
We want to give a breath of fresh air to gamers and offer something different!”
Iwakura Aria
For the fans of visual Novel only!
“The Iwakura mansion holds a dark secret. Ichiko the new young maid joins looking for nothing but safety and security, but she would soon find herself entangled with the beautiful daughter of the Iwakura household. Unravel the secrets of the Iwakura mansion in this gripping suspense visual novel.”
Bendy: Lone Wolf
“Bendy: Lone Wolf™ will test your ability to survive against ever increasing odds. Monsters and obstacles emerge from every direction as you journey into the rubberhose halls of the world’s most evil animation studio. Every day is a challenge.
Become Boris as he ventures deep into the endlessly generated corridors of Joey Drew Studios and beyond in search of supplies, weapons, and the dark truths that await him. The secrets of the machine are hiding around every corner.”
Highlight of the Week
Drag X Drive
Wait, mouse controls?
“That’s right—this game uses an interesting control scheme. First, you’ll hold each Joy-Con™ 2 controller on a surface, just like a mouse, and use them to move your wheels and speed across the court. Slide both controllers forward to move ahead, or just one controller to turn or pivot.
Once you grab the ball and drive up the lane, shooting is as simple as raising your hand and flicking your wrist. You can also rack up even more points by performing tricks, such as using the half-pipe to launch yourself into the air for crazy dunks. The more difficult the trick, the more points you’ll earn. While it’s one thing to score points, it’s another to score points with style.”
My own take:

So, this was the game I decided I would purchase to celebrate passing my driving exam. And I regretted my decision initially.
There’s not a game like this anywhere outside the Switch 2 platform, and that’s what got me to buy it, since I love experimenting with all the weird mechanics Nintendo comes up with.
However, since this is the first of its kind, there’s no muscle memory or game knowledge to ease you into the Drag X Drive.
The first hour with this game was rough, and I could barely turn the wheelchair as I intended most of the time, making my first match a frustrating and infuriating experience.

I was about to give up on it!
But there’s something about this game that makes me want to master it. So, after a couple of hours of time trials and just messing with the controls, I feel much more comfortable with the movement.
I literally jumped off my chair when I managed to beat one of these trials for the first time. It was the proof I was getting better and that my hard work (and real sweat) was paying off.
There’s a lot more to explore in it before I can give a full review, though, so for now I just leave you with these thoughts.
