We’re in the first week of September, and looking at what’s to come, there won’t be a better week than this one. We got some of the best third-party ports since Cyberpunk 2077, showcasing just how good games can run and look on Nintendo’s newest system.
How’s everyone doing? Welcome to another Gamer By Mistake eShop Selects, where each week I showcase the Nintendo Switch games you should not miss. Meaning, as usual, I had to go through a lot of shovelware. But, thankfully, there were no H-games released this week! Which might be sad for the only person purchasing them.
With this said, here are the best Nintendo Switch 2 eShop games for the first week of September:

Highlight of the Week:
Hollow Knight: Silksong
I had to start this week’s list with the most anticipated release of the decade, Silksong. The DLC turned into a game sequel that took roughly 7 years to develop, starring Hornet as she explores a new kingdom in MetroidVania style, filled with secrets, tough enemies, and fast-paced 2D platforming.
Silksong managed to crash multiple digital stores, and roughly 579,000 players are enjoying the game right now, as of writing this.
Personally, I didn’t pick it up just yet since I’m waiting for a physical release in the future! Meaning my purchase of the week was something else. Can you guess?
Notable Releases:
Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion
Next up, we have Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, which belongs in the slot of rare games receiving a Nintendo Switch 2 Physical Edition with the full game on the cartridge.
It’s the follow-up to Daemon X Machina, putting you back in the cockpit of customizable mechs for fast, explosive battles against massive enemies in a post-apocalyptic world.

Personally, I was a fan of the first one, but this one? I had a difficult time clicking with the demo version. On Steam Deck it can run at 60 FPS, so I was expecting the same on the Switch 2, or at least a steady 30 FPS, which the game clearly struggles to maintain.
Even so, I’ve decided to include it on the list, with the hope of it getting a patch in the near future. And also, it’s a full physical release in 2025.
High on Life
High on Life is a colorful, first-person shooter from the minds behind Rick and Morty. You’ll wield talking guns, each with its personality, and blast your way through weird alien planets while soaking in the show’s signature humor.
This week it received a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, which is entirely free for anyone who has purchased the game before.

I never played High on Life before, but due to its connection to Rick and Morty, it always intrigued me, and currently I’m just waiting for the right opportunity to play it.
Having a Switch 2 version definitely helps, but unfortunately this week is packed with heavy hitters. Currently I have this one on my wishlist, and when a discount hits, I’ll absolutely add it to my collection.
Star Wars Outlaws
Star Wars Outlaws is a third-person, open-world action-adventure where stealth and exploration are the main themes.
It’s set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and you play as Kay Vess, a cunning outlaw aiming to pull off a heist bigger than she can handle.
Visually this game is the most impressive third-party title I’ve seen, apart from Cyberpunk 2077.
It looks so good, in fact, that I had a hard time not committing to the purchase. Being able to experience stunning dogfights in space while sitting on my couch in handheld is one of my goals for this console’s generation.

However, I have to remind myself that this is a Ubisoft game, and they are not known for crafting the most engaging or rewarding open worlds.
Still, I enjoyed their approach with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, where it was more narrative-driven and had fewer checklists to cross. Star Wars Outlaws seems to be following the same design philosophy, so I’m eager to play it once the price drops in a few weeks.

Purchase of the Week:
Cronos: The New Dawn
Cronos: The New Dawn is the most brutal game I’ve played since Dark Souls.
As the developers say, it’s a whole new breed of survival horror, where we are tasked to survive in the brutal wasteland of humanity.
At every corner, terrible monsters lie in wait for the right opportunity to attack you, and disposing of them is not easy. Especially if there’s a large group, or even worse, monsters merging with other monsters. This creates a terrible freak of nature that seems almost unstoppable.

You have several weapons at your disposal, but every shot you take counts since supplies are very low in this world. Exploration is not an option; you cannot survive if you don’t fill your stash with as many resources as you can.
But each step you take forward will get you closer to uncovering the origins of the apocalypse that wiped out humanity.
As mentioned, the game is hard, even for this type of genre (so I’ve heard). If you’re like me and you’re not used to this type of game, then it will take you some time to adjust to the slow pacing of your character.

I’ll be honest, right at the beginning I kept dying multiple times against the same enemy and thought about quitting. But then I took some time to read through all the tutorials, got good, and finally smashed through the obstacle that was blocking me for 30 minutes, and it felt spectacular.
I’m finally in the zone with Cronos: The New Dawn, and although I still die a llot,I will reach the end of my journey.
Such is our calling.
Deal of the Week
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot
I’m a massive Dragon Ball fan, and my jaw dropped once I saw Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot with a low price of 2,79€. I know there’s a bunch of new DLC to purchase, but just the base game will get you through the entire story of DBZ + Resurrection F, which will take you roughly 30-40 hours to complete.
So, if you’re a massive Dragon Ball fan, this is a game you cannot miss.
